Flutterby

I once heard tell that flutterby
Is what they called a butterfly.
It seems a better choice of names
Than that which it at present claims.

For as it flits in flowery fields,
I'm sure each fellow insect yields
The right of way, for shouldn't duty
Be to acquiesce to beauty?

If you're lucky and observe
A flutterby in graceful swerve,
You may be tempted then to utter,
What's this got to do with butter?

Could an error, ordinary,
Have connected wings with dairy?
We may never know the why,
So I'll stick with flutterby.
