Drained

Sometimes something shakes you up
And leaves you feeling drained.
It messes up the neat façade
You always have maintained.

It rattles you right to the core
And hangs you out to dry.
It doesn’t pay, as you calm down,
To grapple with the “why.”

For that’s the way that life pans out –
We go from ups to downs.
Smiles and laughter quickly flip
To worry lines and frowns.

So when you’re walloped, take a breath
And have a cup of tea;
Tomorrow is another day
And who knows what will be.
