Celebrating Dad

It’s Fathers’ Day, so we obey
By celebrating dad
And thus we may reflect and weigh
The dad we have or had.

We see his flaws but then we pause
To set those thoughts aside
And give applause to him because
We know how much he’s tried.

When times are tough, a manner gruff
Might masquerade some fear
But it’s enough, when things get rough,
To know he’s always here.

For life is short and his support
Has surely played its part
To help us thwart each bad report
By cradling our heart.
