I was stuck in the drugstore,
Staring at the shelf,
Trying to select the proper
Pills for myself.
Do I go generic?
Or stick to tried and true?
Dayquil or Nyquil?
What’s the thing to do?
Do I need a cough suppressant?
Will my headache go away?
Capsule, caplet, soft-gel, liquid?
There’s a dizzying display.
Can one pill treat every symptom?
Should I spring for extra-strength?
I’ve been up and down the aisle,
Boxes fill each inch of length.
Finally, I made my decision:
I picked Duane Reade’s brand, non-drowsy.
Guess I should have stayed there longer,
‘Cause I still feel really lousy!
