There’s a book that I want
So it’s now on hold
In my library branch,
Or so I’m told.
It’s a popular novel,
A Times best-seller
By a writer who’s quite
A story teller.
When I added my name
To the on-hold list,
I had little hope
But could not resist.
Yet I sure was shocked
To the nth degree
By the number who
Were ahead of me.
Three hundred and twelve
Had reserved that book.
I could write my own
In the time that took.
Someone please explain,
I don’t understand,
Why they can’t get more
Books in such demand.
But I’ll wait my turn.
It’ll come, no doubt;
I just hope it does
‘Fore the movie’s out!
