To Schmooze

It's hard to schmooze
Without some booze -
A cocktail or a beer;
Though I'd excuse
If you'd refuse -
Just let me make that clear.

A little drink,
I really think,
Helps people to connect;
And with that link
As troubles shrink,
All feelings seem correct.

What matters most
From coast to coast
Is sipping with some class;
So let us toast
And thank our host -
It's time to raise a glass!

  1. what about a friend who's in recovery?
    how do you make any kind of discovery
    if they can't drink,
    but they can think,
    and you're drinking in their face?

  2. this was meant as a light-hearted poem about how nice it is to sit around and have a drink or two with a friend or relative. obviously, there are times when it's not appropriate to do so...
