Scenes from Sandy

The pictures taken of the storm
Showed scenes quite different from the norm:
Rising waters, surging tides;
Houses tipped upon their sides.

Dishes turned into debris;
Roller coaster in the sea.
Homes stripped bare or filled with mud;
Shoes and clothing caked with crud.

Faded photos, wedding dresses;
Heads of dolls with missing tresses.
Furniture with frames destroyed;
Hopes and dreams all null and void.

Every image sad and tragic,
Proof of Nature’s evil magic.
