The daffodils have sprouted
With a few now past their prime.
The bright green hedges sit and wait
For bugs to start to climb.
Yet all the trees are brown and bare
With not a leaf in sight,
Preparing for conditions to be
Just exactly right.
The optimal amount of sun,
Warm temperatures and rain
Will let them know it’s time for buds
To blanket their domain.
When everything’s aligned, there’ll be
A burgeoning of green
And only then will Nature’s brush
Complete its springtime scene.
