Mosquito Bite

Summer must be here and I
Will let you know the reason:
I got my first mosquito bite
To usher in the season.

It got me on the neck this time –
That much I can divulge;
I didn’t feel it happen,
But the proof is in the bulge.

That little pillow pop of skin
Reminds me with an itch;
I try to hold off scratching
But that really is a bitch.

I guess I’m pretty lucky
And that cannot be denied;
But, although it only bit me once,
I hope that sucker died!
