Cinco de Mayo

Let’s drink a Margarita –
Lots of restaurants have a deal.
We’ll get into the spirit
With a tasty Tex-Mex meal.

Today’s Cinco de Mayo,
So tequila fits the bill.
Most people only know that
Many glasses we should fill.

They do not know the history:
How soldiers did subdue
The French in Puebla, Mexico
In 1862.

Four thousand Mexicans did fight
And so we celebrate
The freedom they earned May the fifth,
A most auspicious date.

But all we need to know is that
It’s such a festive time.
So pour some nice tequila shots
And don’t forget the lime!
