Ushering Out the Year

The day was warm for winter;
The sun was shining bright.
The skaters circled on the ice
And held each other tight.

The booths were filled with shoppers
In search of stocking fare.
The carousel spun ‘round, its music
Wafting in the air.

We wandered through the market,
Suburban pals in tow,
So glad our day had sunshine
‘Stead of bitter cold or snow.

At lunch, we laughed and chatted
And clinked our pints of beer,
With promises of meeting
Once again this time next year.

A holiday tradition
With some dear and long-time friends
Is the perfect way to usher out
December, as it ends.
