In Confidence

When something's told in confidence
There is no "if" or "but."
The teller's expectation is
Your mouth will stay quite shut.

It's tempting, though, to spill the beans
For secrets have a way
Of demanding that you let them out
At once, without delay.

If friendship is at stake it's best
To nod and acquiesce,
Though keeping something under wraps
Is bound to up one's stress.
