Sunrise

All you fools who lie in bed –
Get out and greet the day instead!
To watch the sun in gentle rise
As it lights up the morning skies
Imbues you with a sense of hope
That with your problems you can cope.

Of course, there are no guarantees
And life will bring you to your knees,
But gazing as the sun’s ascending,
There’s no harm in just pretending
Everything will be okay
At least for now, on this new day.

Yet I am often such a fool,
So can’t afford to ridicule
But spirits need to be revived
So even if you’re sleep-deprived,
It’s sometimes worth an early wake
To catch the sun at daylight’s break.
