No two families are alike
So
we can’t really know
What
happens in a household
Underneath
the parts that show.
The
habits, values and routines
Which
parents first control
Aren’t
visible to those outside,
Though
normalcy’s the goal.
When
children grow and leave the house
And
heed their inner voice,
The
power to reject or stick
With
customs is their choice.
What
I find most intriguing
Is
how those from one abode
Can,
as grown-ups, lead such different lives
From
those their folks bestowed.
