My
husband bought some ice cream –
Rather costly, but on sale.
“Organic” said the label
So assumptions did prevail…

Perhaps
it would be healthy
(Though we usually don’t care)
Or made of some ingredients
Imbuing it with flair.

Instead,
it tasted lousy.
Though the package called it “mint,”
Of that specific flavor
There was not the slightest hint.

The
“chocolate” chips were carob,
Lacking any chocolate flavor.
I filled my bowl but sadly,
It was not a treat to savor.

The
lesson to be learned is that
No matter the expense,
“Organic” equals not much taste.
(To purists – no offense.)

generalizing about organic products' taste is like generalizing about anything (and i'd be curious to know if the carton read 'chocolate chips' if it was carob...??)...
ReplyDeletei expected a comment from you about this. i was really just writing about the ice cream, which was the worst ice cream i've ever eaten (and yes, organic). the ending was just supposed to be a light-hearted observation and not really taken seriously, but i guess that didn't come across. the carton just said "mint chip" and the chips looked like chocolate but had zero taste...
