Give and Take

Friendship is a give and take.
We know the rules and what’s at stake;
For take-take-take and never give
Is something most friends won’t forgive.

At times we each must sacrifice
To compromise, or pay the price.
Just play the game, for in the end
You’ll be rewarded with a friend.

This push-pull law, it’s no surprise,
In all relationships, applies.
So heed these words, for goodness’ sake:
Make sure you give as well as take!
