The Sprinkler

On a hot hot day, the sprinkler shoots
Its droplets in the air.
For little kids, there is such joy
In running under there.

They dash right in and, dripping wet,
They turn and dash back out,
Each darting trip accompanied
By giggle, gasp or shout.

When watching kids at sprinkler time
I'll never sport a frown
For unlike at a swimming pool,
There's no way they can drown.
